The APM/Matched-Filter Cluster Catalog
نویسنده
چکیده
A catalog of nearby clusters in the 5800 deg area in the southern Galactic cap is constructed by applying a matched-filter clusterfinding algorithm to the sample of 3.3 million galaxies from the APM Galaxy Survey. I have preliminarily detected more than 4000 cluster candidates with estimated redshift of less than 0.2 and with richness similar to those of ACO clusters. Generally, a good correspondence is found between the nearest cluster candidates in our catalog and the ACO clusters which have measured redshift. While the ACO catalog becomes incomplete at z > 0.08, the completeness limit of our cluster catalog reaches z = 0.15.

Multi - object spectroscopy of low redshift EIS clusters . I . ⋆
We report the results of the first multi-object spectroscopic observations at the Danish 1.54m telescope at La Silla, Chile. Observations of five cluster candidates from the ESO Imaging Survey Cluster Candidate Catalog are described. From these observations we confirm the reality of the five clusters with measured redshifts of 0.11 ≤ z ≤ 0.35. We estimate velocity dispersions in the range 294–6...
متن کاملCorrelation Functions of the Abell, Apm, and X-ray Clusters of Galaxies
We have measured the correlation functions of the optically selected clusters of galaxies in the Abell and the APM catalogs, and of the X-ray clusters in the X-ray-Brightest Abell-type Clusters of galaxies (XBACs) catalog and the Brightest Clusters Sample (BCS). The same analysis method and the same method of characterizing the resulting correlation functions are applied to all observational sa...
متن کاملThe Las Campanas Distant Cluster Survey - the Correlation Function
We present the first non-local (z >0.2) measurement of the cluster-cluster spatial correlation length, using data from the Las Campanas Distant Cluster Survey (LCDCS). We measure the angular correlation function for velocity-dispersion limited subsamples of the catalog at estimated redshifts of 0.35 ≤ zest < 0.575, and derive spatial correlation lengths for these clusters via the cosmological L...
متن کاملThe Kpno/deeprange Distant Cluster Survey: I. the Catalog & the Space Density of Intermediate Redshift Clusters
We have conducted an automated search for galaxy clusters within a contiguous 16 square degree I−band survey in the north Galactic hemisphere. A matched filter detection algorithm identifies 444 cluster candidates in the range 0.2 < ∼ z < ∼ 1.2. The full catalog is presented along with the results from a follow-up spectroscopic survey. The estimated redshift distribution of the cluster candidat...
متن کاملSpectroscopic Observations of Optically Selected Clusters of Galaxies from the Palomar Distant Cluster Survey1
We have conducted a redshift survey of sixteen cluster candidates from the Palomar Distant Cluster Survey (PDCS) to determine both the density of PDCS clusters and the accuracy of the estimated redshifts presented in the PDCS catalog (Postman et al. 1996). We find that the matched-filter redshift estimate presented in the PDCS has an error σz = 0.06 in the redshift range 0.1 ≤ z ≤ 0.35 based on...
